Budokwai Squad successes

The Budokwai Squad have been busy attending various competitions and performing excellently! 

Recent successes include...

Evangelos won a silver medal at the Minor Nationals under 12s in Scotland.  He fought in the under 46kg and fellow squad member Ben took a bronze medal in the under 42kg.  The squad were accompanied by Senseis Larry Stevenson and David Mesa Rey. 

Sensei Nadia Minardi took six Budokwai Judoka to the Micklesfield JC green belt and below competition. All fought brilliantly well, especially Abduaruf and Harel who won gold, Abdulatif and Mahmoud who won silver and Omar who won a bronze! 

A huge thank you to the Senseis for their expert coaching and the Parents and Guardians for their continued support!

The Budokwai Squad

The Budokwai Squad are a group of Junior members who are keen to further their Judo careers and experience competitions. Under the tutorship of Senseis Larry Stevenson and David Mesa Rey, the focus is on progression and enjoyment in the practice of Judo. 

The squad have fought incredibly well and won many medals at various competitions and participated in training sessions at other venues. 

So far this year the squad have been to:

  • South Coast Open in Worthing
  • Northern Home Counties High Wycombe Judo Club
  • Micklefield Judo Club Red and Yellow Belts
  • London Area Development Red and Yellow Belts at the University of East London
  • Feel Fit Gym training session
  • British Schools Championships
  • Soverain Judo Club Sportarena Belgium 
  • Northern Home Counties Pre Cadet and Cadet Ranking in Essesx
  • 21st Internation Houvast Judotoernier in The Netherlands 
  • 61 Judo Club, High Wycombe

Celebrating 10 years of Sabrina working at The Budokwai. A dedicated member of the team, Sabrina's focus is welcoming the babies and toddlers into the dojo and is also passionate about Judo!

Two bronze medals at Soeverein Judo Cup, Lommel

Sensei Larry Stevenson accompanied three of The Budokwai's junior squad to the Soeverein Judo Cup in Lommel. Ben, Evangelos and Mahmoud all showed great skill and command of Judo, and particular congratulations must go to Ben and Evangelos, both of whom received silver medals!

Fantastic results from The Budokwai Junior Judo Squad

On the 12th of March, Senseis Larry and David accompanied The Budokwai Judo squad to compete in the London Area Development Red and Yellow Belts, held at the University of East London!

Ray Stevens receives 7th Dan!

Congratulations to our Judo and BJJ instructor Ray Stevens, who was presented with his 7th Dan after the Neil Adams master class on the 3rd of March, held at The Budokwai.
